Developing Generational Leaders

Greetings Everyone: I just returned last week from Kenya, and I wish I could sit down with each of you right now and tell you all that is happening. I am still shaking my head! New doors are opening, new partnerships are forming, ministries are expanding, and our college programs for pastors are receiving national recognition. There is so much to tell you! For 23 years, I have been inviting you to our annual Mission Barnabas banquet. And yes, I know I have said “this will be one of the best yet” more than a few times . But when I come home from a trip like this, what else can I say? God continues to do more than we could have imagined, and you are helping make it possible. I just returned on Monday from a 4-week trip to Kenya. What an incredible visit, and I am overwhelmed by all that God is doing through CMM. Our youth outreach, Count Me In, had just finished before I arrived with 1,050 youth from all over Kenya. So many were receiving salvation, and many were renewing their faith. When I arrived, 350 college-age youth were having Fearless Camp, and the whole compound was rocking with so much passion, excitement, and hearts seeking God. Immediately after Fearless concluded, we held our September Leadership Conference with over 500 pastors and leaders from across East Africa. Immediately after the leadership conference, the next semester of the Bible College started. What was so encouraging about this semester was the large number of younger students who have joined the college. When we first opened the college, many of the students were older pastors. However, this semester the majority of the students are in their 20s and 30s. One exciting event during the conference was the first graduation of students who had completed the newly launched RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) program implemented by the government. Once completed, a pastor can be recognized for his past experience if proven and tested. It is a Godsend for the pastors, and Clarence Matheny Bible College has become the leading college in Kenya in graduating pastors who avail this program. Once finished, it provides the pastor with a certificate of completion from the Board of Education that qualifies and recognizes the leader's ministry and provides approval and licensing for Christian ministry. We graduated 76 pastors, with a government official attending to recognize and applaud their accomplishment. It was the largest graduation to date nationwide from this program. This is in addition to our graduations of those attending the college for a diploma in Transformational Church Leadership. So many graduations to attend☺. I could share more, but we are already preparing for this year’s annual report for the Mission Barnabas annual banquet on Nov. 10th, as well as the churches and supporters we will be visiting in November and December. What I have shared in this update is only from August and September. Our most difficult task at the moment is preparing the 2026 report and keeping it on schedule. There is so much to tell you about both CMM and Mission Barnabas! We can’t wait to see many of you to greet and thank you for all you do for the ministry in Africa. See you soon! Ronnie and Debbie
